# How we make money And what money can't buy here

NearMe Five is free for homeowners. Businesses pay us for some services. None of it changes who is in the five or the order.

## Where the money comes from

- Quote request fees **Per request** Some businesses pay when they receive a request you send.
- Profile upgrades **Yearly or monthly** More photos, price details and lead tools.
- Sponsored placements **Monthly** One labelled box per page, outside the numbered list.

## What money can't buy

- A place in the five, or a higher position. The five are set by distance after a quality check.
- Removing a competitor, or hiding bad reviews.
- A service-area label for an area the business doesn't serve.
- Changes to our guides or local facts.

## Money questions

### Can a company pay to show up closer?

No. Distance is measured from the company's real base, and nobody can buy a different address or a wider service area.

### Do sponsored companies get same-day priority?

No. A sponsored box is an ad. It says nothing about how fast a company answers or whether it can come today.

### Why is the quote form free for me?

Some companies pay a fee when they receive your request. You pay nothing, and only the company you pick gets your details.

## How you can tell

Sponsored

Paid placements look like this: a dashed box with a "Sponsored" tag, never numbered, and always outside the list of five.
